How does Valcyclovir (Generic Valtrex) work?
Valtrex exerts its effect on the viral enzyme known as DNA polymerase
and blocks it. The herpes viruses cannot work or replicate from one
cell to another without this DNA polymerase. Valcyclovir thereby aids
treatment by restricting the spread of the herpes viruses. The FDA too
has studied this effect of Valtrex and approved it for treatment of
herpes.
Side effects of Valcyclovir (Generic Valtrex)
Whether you are taking Valtrex or its generic alternatives, there are
bound to be some Valtrex side effects. Among the most common ones that
have been reported among adult patients are included headache,
abdominal pain, diarrhea, reduced kidney function, nausea and vomiting,
and disturbed liver functions.
If you follow the dosage as prescribed by your doctor, the symptoms of these Valtrex side effects are generally mild. However, if you overdose, or change your medication dose without talking to your doctor, it might lead to dangerous consequences. While Valtrex is not considered dangerous during pregnancy, chances of a pregnant woman passing herpes to the unborn child are high; so pregnant women should get treatment for their herpes lesions at the earliest. The medication should also not be taken after alcohol consumption as the effects of the combination are not exactly known.
Guidelines before taking
Before you buy generic Valtrex online and take it, make sure you do not
have an allergy to this medication. Also get yourself checked for HIV
or any other condition that might weaken your immune system. Valtrex
can harm the nursing infant if a lactating mother takes this medication
as the drug passes into breast milk.
