Bupropion or generic Zyban is associated with increased risk of seizures. This risk increases as the dosage increases. Overdose may even prove to be fatal. Adults with history of seizures, head trauma, liver cirrhosis, eating disorders, alcohol addiction and central nervous system tumor should not take this drug. Ask your doctor for alternatives for depression and smoking cessation.
To minimize the risk of seizures, dose should be increased gradually, and the total daily dose should be kept less than 450 milligrams. Tell the doctor of all your medical symptoms, especially if you expect pregnancy or consume alcohol excessively.
